Computer Quotes gathered on the Net

Computer Problems. Arg. Even for a technology writer and experienced computer user like myself, I still have my fair share of computer related SNAFU’s. On this occasion, it is my laptop giving me a pain in my RAM. Inconveniently it periodically freezes up and won’t respond no CTRL-ALT-DELETE, no restart, no slam it into the wall; nothing will alter its self-imposed coma. Eventually it will shut down and restart when it is good and ready. At crucial moments, usually after writing a prize-winning piece of writing, it flashes the BIOS screen and starts a core memory dump. (If you don’t speak computer gibberish its okay, needless to say this is as bad as it sounds.)

Having had enough with this wonderful piece of technology I took it in for servicing at the store where it was purchased. This is the second time it has been in the shop in the last couple of months. The first time was for the exact same problem. Whoops, I guess they didn’t fix the problem, did they? In the next couple of weeks, they will contact me with either the problem solved or a new computer. If my vote counts then this particular laptop won’t be returning. However, I’m not sure the technician on the other side of the counter really cared that much what my opinion was on the subject. The decision seems to be left to the powers that be at the corporate level, and then only once the off-site techs have a chance to tinker with it. If they have as much fun with it as I’ve been having over the last couple of months there is no doubt in my mind they will promptly decide to send me a new laptop. A check compensating me for the emotional distress of dealing with this hell bent sadomasochistic hunk of junk wouldn’t be too out of line either.

Insure.com - auto insurance - The most dangerous foods to eat while driving

Watch what you eat while driving in the car. According to this article on Insure.com, based on surveys by insurance companies and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), eating and driving is a dangerous mix. Does drinking a cup of coffee cause more accidents than a bottle of beer? Will it soon become illegal to eat and drive at the same time?

For the time being drivers are still free to zoom down the freeway at sixty-five juggling cell phones, coffee cups, and scanning the radio or shuffling CD's. Whether the law should or shouldn't infringe on our right to drive and eat may never become a serious topic for public debate. Aside from the fact, that most American's don't like laws that interfere with their own lives, business might have the last word. With many companies profit margins being based on the consumption of food and beverages while driving, not to mention the number of electronic gadgets for our cars there is no reason to believe a law will ever be passed curtailing distracted drivers.

Sure, a handful of communities have passed laws against driving and talking on a cell phone. It's a long way off before it'll become illegal to drink a Tall mocha Latte while operating our two-ton mechanical conveyance. So eat up in the fast lane, don't forget to put the cell phone down long enough to give your fellow travelers the bird, and flip through your satellite radio stations to your hearts content, their won't be any sirens or flashing lights coming to get you today.

Bestselling Author J Marcus Ross

Vacation is over. The new year is here and I'm back with a vengeance. Had a great time in San Diego visiting my wife's family and being darn right lazy most of the time. We came back just in time for Portland big snow storm. The rest of the time I've been relaxing and preparing for what I'm sure will prove to be a demanding year.

There is so much to catch up on.... I'm sure you're all waiting with anticipation. I hate to disappoint but you'll have to wait a little while. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll get to all the mundane happenings in Rossland, but this was just supposed to be an announcement that I'm back.

While on vacation I have been still receiving e-mail but I haven't been replying to anyone's messages. Sorry. To those of you waiting for a response I'll get one out to you within the next week or so. I appreciate your patience in waiting for me to return to work. I love getting mail and think it is great anyone has taken the time to write to me. And thanks for not being put off that I haven't responded.

Again, this is only a quick note letting you all know I'm back on the job.
